DSP Anime is a dedicated synthesizer for Japanese Anime sounds. Actually it’s like an interactive sound bank, you can choose between some types of sound through several categories such as Magic, Fight or Facial Expressions…
It uses procedural audio (real-time sound synthesis) and each type of sounds can be tweaked with some parameters so you can achieve a lot of variations easily. In addition, DSP Anime allow you to export your work towards game audio middleware (Wwise, FMOD Studio, ADX2) and game creation tools (GameMaker).
My role was to prototype and design each sounds with the internal Tsugi tool. Then I created and assigned parameters. Of course a big part of the job was to listen and analyze a lot of references. Sometimes it was hard to figure how to recreate one specific sound. Especially since it’s very difficult to find documentation about Sound Design in Japanese Anime. So we tried to create sounds as close as what you can expect in a Japanese Anime.
